I'm always telling myself that I need to eat better. If I would cut down on junk food and sugar I would lose weight. Sounds simple, right? Wrong... I am sorry to say that I am addicted to food that is not good for me. As I was strolling through Rite Aid the other day, there it was, in all its yellow, orange & white glory, calling my name. My favorite candy in the world (well one of them anyway). I know you are thinking that I am crazy, but I L O V E candy corn! And it has to be Brach's Candy Corn - that is the best!
I could eat a whole bag at one time even though it makes me shakey and nauseated I can still do it, and I DO! I HAD to buy that bag of candy corn. Afterall, it is September and I never eat it except in the fall. So between now and Halloween I will probably devour several bags of candy corn and various other types of Halloween treats. And if that is not bad enough as soon as Halloween is over and they take my candy corn away, I will be tempted with Christmas candy and then after Christmas it will be Valentine's candy and then Easter candy! Thank goodness there are no holidays in the summer! I swear I am doomed from September thru April to eat candy and lots of it...
Which brings me to the reason I am writing this post. (I got a little sidetracked with the candy stuff).....
SIX Foods All Women Should Make Sure They Eat.....
I am going to try my best to incorporate these things in my diet so I can eat more healthy and maybe shed a few pounds. Fat chance with all the goodies I will be eating, but at least I will be eating some good foods!
Eat one cup of berries at least 3 times a week. This one is not hard for me. I love berries and I usually have blueberries & strawberries every morning mixed with vanilla yogurt.
Salmon 2 times a week. I love salmon but it is a little pricey so I was happy to see that tuna can be substituted.
Leafy Greens two times a day - the darker green the better. This one is tough for me. I am not a big salad eater unless I order one in a restaurant. I do love broccoli though and am a fan of spinach in just about anything so the days I don't have a salad I will make sure I have broccoli or spinach in my pasta.
Whole Grains three times a day. I do love bread and I have already switched from white rice to brown rice and love whole wheat pasta and whole grain cherrios are tasty too. I am just not a fan of oatmeal unless it's in a cookie!
Nuts - 15-20 three times a week. Almonds, Cashews, Walnuts and Pecans. I just hope I can stop at 15-20. I love almonds and cashews!
Golden Vegetables - 2 1/2 cups per day of sweet potatoes, butternut squash or carrots. This one is tough. I like squash so I guess I can put that with broccoli or pasta and carrots are good just raw, but I am not lovin sweet potatoes.
This could be a challenge, but I am really going to try my best to eat a more healthy diet. If the girls in my family read this I hope you will join me. If you start now it will become a habit & it won't be so hard when you get to be old like me!
